Connecting Pushpay to MinistryStats
If your church collects giving through Pushpay, connect it once and MinistryStats keeps your giving ledger up to date automatically — pulling in gifts and refunds so your giving numbers are always current without manual entry.
What you get
Pulls in: gifts and refunds from your Pushpay organization, into your MinistryStats giving ledger.
Doesn't touch: MinistryStats only reads from Pushpay. It never changes, creates, or deletes anything in your Pushpay records.
Before you start
- You need an Admin or Owner role in MinistryStats. (Other roles can't see the Integrations screen.)
- You'll need three credentials from Pushpay: your Organization key, a Client ID, and a Client secret. These come from Pushpay's developer settings.
Where to get these: these are Pushpay API credentials tied to your organization, provided through Pushpay's Developer / API access program. If you're not sure where yours are, contact your Pushpay account rep and ask for read-only API credentials (Organization key, Client ID, Client secret). If this step is unclear for you, email us and we'll walk you through it.
- This connection is read-only. MinistryStats reads your giving and never writes back.
Connect it
- Sign in to MinistryStats as an Admin or Owner.
- Go to Settings → Integrations.
- Find the Pushpay card.
- Choose your Environment — Production for your real giving. (Sandbox is for testing only.)
- Enter your Organization key, Client ID, and Client secret.
- Click Connect Pushpay. MinistryStats tests your credentials against Pushpay before saving — nothing is stored unless the connection actually works. You'll briefly see "Checking credentials…"
- When it succeeds, the card shows "Connected to [your organization]."
Using it
Once connected, a Giving — Pushpay section appears with a Sync gifts button.
- A nightly sync runs automatically — your gifts and refunds stay current without you doing anything.
- Click Sync gifts anytime you want to pull the latest gifts and refunds immediately.
Syncing is safe to repeat — it updates your ledger and won't create duplicate gifts.
What it does and doesn't do
- Does: read gifts and refunds from Pushpay into your MinistryStats giving ledger, on a nightly schedule and on demand.
- Doesn't: change anything in Pushpay; pull anything beyond gifts and refunds.
Disconnecting
On the Pushpay card, click Disconnect. Future syncs stop. Gifts and donors already imported into MinistryStats stay in your ledger.
If something looks wrong
- "Connect Pushpay" fails or shows a credentials error — double-check the Organization key, Client ID, and Client secret, and make sure Environment is set to Production for real giving. The connection is only saved when the credentials pass Pushpay's check.
- New gifts aren't showing — click Sync gifts to pull immediately rather than waiting for the nightly run.

Your data is safe
The connection is read-only — MinistryStats reads gifts and refunds and has no ability to change your Pushpay records. Your Client secret and credentials are stored securely on the server, in your own church's database — never shown in your browser after you enter them, and never written to our logs. Giving is sensitive: this integration is visible only to Admins and Owners, and the giving module itself is off by default until an admin turns it on and grants access.
